On Thursday 20th November Carbon Footprint held a Tree Planting & Climate Change awareness event at Castle Hill Junior School in Basingstoke. Over 100 trees were planted by the school’s pupils on the day, attended by The Mayor of Basingstoke. The tree planting event marked the pinnacle of Castle Hill Junior’s Climate Change awareness week. Over the duration of the week an assembly on how pupils & the school can play a part in alleviating global warming was lead by Carbon Footprint and the children worked on their own action plans & pledges to save energy & reduce carbon emissions. Lisa an attendee from a company in the media sector comments: “As new associate partners with Carbon Footprint we were delighted to be invited to the event at Castle Hill Junior School, and also to see the enthusiasm and interest that the teachers and the pupils had for the tree planting exercise. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding association with Carbon Footprint”
The event was held at a local Basingstoke school.
An assembly was held at the beginning of the week to introduce the ideas to the children.
Throughout the week the children put together posters and reduction pledges.
Before planting got underway the children learnt about how planting trees helps wildlife.
