Jack's Shack - Sustainability

Jack's Shack

"Jack's Shack: For the beaten track, and the trek back."

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Jack's Shack, we believe that exploring our planet means protecting it. Our journey began with a simple idea: equip adventurers with reliable gear, but do so responsibly. We're dedicated to understanding and minimizing our environmental impact, from the materials we source to the energy used in manufacturing.

Take our Sleeping Sacks, for example. While lightweight and durable, the production of their synthetic fills and nylon shell fabrics carries a significant carbon footprint. We are actively investigating recycled alternatives and new manufacturing techniques to reduce this impact without compromising performance in the wild.

Tackling Core Challenges

Beyond personal gear, larger items like our Roof Racks present unique challenges. The aluminium and steel used in their construction are energy-intensive to produce. Our focus here is on increasing the proportion of recycled metals and optimizing designs for longevity and modularity, ensuring less waste and a longer product lifespan.

We're also constantly evaluating our supply chain for other key products, like Arctic Anoraks (technical fabrics, waterproofing chemicals) and Survival Snacks (processed foods, complex packaging). Every decision we make aims to balance functionality for extreme conditions with our commitment to a sustainable future.

We publish our carbon emissions on CaDI for transparency. See below or by visiting CaDI (www.carbondi.com)
