WSP Carbon Offsetting Options
The 2024 benefits package has four carbon offsetting options for you to choose from:
1) Community Projects
One tonne of Carbon Dioxide will be saved through a portfolio of offsetting projects with additional community benefits for every £10.00 contributed
This portfolio supports projects which have additional benefits to the local communities they support. Alongside carbon reductions these projects bring social, health and economic improvements. Each of these projects achieve carbon savings by reducing the demand for wood and therefore preventing deforestation.
2) Global Portfolio
One tonne of Carbon Dioxide will be saved through a global portfolio of projects for every £6.75 contributed.
This portfolio supports a variety of renewable / low carbon energy offsetting projects around the world. Each project generates electricity which is fed to the grid and displaces electricity which would otherwise be generated by fossil fuelled power plants, resulting in emission reductions.

3) Reforestation in Kenya & Reducing Global Deforestation
One tree will be planted in the Kenya and in addition one tonne of Carbon Dioxide will be saved by supporting Reducing Deforestation (REDD+) projects around the world for every £10.50 contributed.
This project is a partnership with Kenya’s Escarpment Environment Conservation Network (ESCONET), geared towards sustainable rehabilitation and management of the natural forest ecosystem. When you choose this project, you will be helping to plant trees, provide education on sustainable land management skills and provide work to local communities. By supporting the planting of trees in Kenya and protection of trees in the Amazon, you will help mitigate climate change, protect biodiversity and provide valuable socio-economic benefits.

4) UK Tree Planting & Reducing Global Deforestation
One tree will be planted in the UK and in addition one tonne of Carbon Dioxide will be saved by supporting Reducing Deforestation (REDD+) projects around the world for every £15.60 contributed.
These native broad-leaved trees will be found homes where they are most needed; supplementing hedgerows, woodlands and nature reserves, parks and farmland. With the vast majority of the trees being planted in school grounds helping to educate and raise awareness among pupils. The trees planted in the UK and protected in the Amazon help to mitigate climate change, support biodiversity and protect nature for future generations.
